Roger.
He's always looked at as the sadistic monster who's always next to Jack.
I BEG TO DISAGREE.
Empty eyes always accuse him of being the face of evil and sadism, but he's more than that. There are points in time wherein I can't help but feel that maybe he's just misunderstood, that maybe he feels so much anger and restraint, the island opened a wrong outlet of this rage.
He's a ruthless killer? He's the embodiment of mankind's terror? Remember, he has a conscience too. You could say he used to have one, but then the perception of whats right and wrong are twisted in that island, so we'll never truly know...
Maybe he's tired...Tired of always being dictated to do the right thing. Stranggled by the bottled emotions that he suffers from. Maybe he hates the idea of seeing people who are actually trying to look after each other, especially when he prefers to be alone.
Roger is not a killer, I prefer to look at him as a soldier. One that's perceived as a terror because he's fighting on a different side. One that's constantly up and about, to ward off people who try to oppose this freedom he's probably never experienced in life. One that grows restless as he slowly loses the will to care. Someone who is overwhelmed by the spur of negativity from the others.
"You don't know Roger. He's a terror."
Although its true that even the other characters in the book itself refer to him as a "terror", but I'm pretty sure they don't know him as well as they think either.
When Piggy died, I never felt sorry for him. I felt sorry for Roger. The sanity left in him just died, and the heavy burden of what we call "murder" just fell on him. He's still human, maybe he regrets spilling someone's blood on the floor. Somehow I can't help but think that a small part of him is screaming for atonement but...it was just too late to turn back.
I know he's not evil, he's not a psycho, he's not a monster.
He's just a boy who lost his innocence like the others.

Let me clear it up that I am NOT a Roger fangirl DX [no sarcasm intended.]
I just really...feel an odd sense of passionate sympathy for him. > .> Anyway, drawing sucks. I know. Oh~ and feel free to share your opinions too I guess. XD
